Lucca Summer Festival

Lucca Summer Festival

The Lucca Summer Festival is a musical event held in Lucca during the month of July since 1998.
The concerts are held in the city of Lucca, within the historic walls, in Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Martino and Piazza dell'Anfiteatro.
The Lucca Summer Festival bands and national and international soloists, such as David Bowie, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Mark Knopfler, Jamiroquai, Seal, Zucchero, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Anastacia, Giorgia, Green Day, Ennio Morricone and the Rolling Stones. On 5 July 2009, the Dave Matthews Band held a concert of over three and a half hours, the longest performance of their career. The box set "DMB Europe 2009" was taken from that concert.
On September 23, 2017, alongside the City Walls, the historic Rolling Stones concert was held, the only Italian date of the "No Filter" European tour, which recorded the attendance record (about 55,000 people) for this event. br />
In the event of a particular spectator turnout, it is sometimes preferred to use the Porta Elisa soccer stadium or the Pini stadium in Viareggio. Only on the occasion of the Rolling Stones concert, the stage was built alongside the City Walls, precisely in the former Balilla field.
